Performance Analysis of Supercritical Steam Generator at Lestari Banten Energi Steam Power Plant Based on Coal.

SABASTIAN ROY NASIER, 2024

The increase in electricity demand in Indonesia encourages the optimization of power plant performance, especially Steam Power Plants to become the largest national electricity provider in 2023 by 42.12%. In an effort to support the 2060 net zero emission target and increase the efficiency of
electricity supply as in PERMEN of ESDM No. 9 of 2020, a study on supercritical steam generators is needed to improve plant performance. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of load changes with low coal calorific value on the thermal performance of PT Lestari Banten Energi (LBE) steam power plant. The research data was taken from PT LBE PLTU which uses Supercritical Steam Generator technology with a capacity of 660 MW. The analysis was carried out based on daily operational data for one year in the period September 2023 – August 2024 obtained through the Distributed Control System (DCS) system, including gross and net generator parameters, coal flow,
and coal GCV. The analysis shows that the supercritical steam generator produces optimal gross values of SFC, heat rate, and thermal efficiency of 0.544 kg/kWh, 2229 kcal/kWh, 38.6%, respectively. While the net value is sequentially 0.574 kg/kWh, 2347 kcal/kWh, 36.6%. For the sequential gross value of SFC, heat rate, and the lowest thermal efficiency is 0.591 kg/kWh, 2377 kcal/kWh, 36.2% and net sequentially 0.626 kg/kWh, 2515 kcal/kWh, 34.2%.
